Well, ALRIGHTY then! :)

You never know what it is with some people.

I was standing in line at the grocery self checkout behind a woman and her teenaged daughter. The woman was on her cell phone most of the time as she rang up her items. She seemed a bit harried, but I was in no great rush. I was sort of staring off into space about the time she finished paying for her groceries.

As she prepared to wheel her cart out, she turned around, gave me an ugly look and snarled, “Thanks so much for crowding me. Next time, keep your ass back!”

Her daughter looked as shocked as I felt. I didn’t think I had moved up too close, but if I had she didn’t give me any indication until that moment. I was too surprised to even reply. I just gave her a little sheepish smile, which made her pause a moment before she stormed off with her basket.

The lady behind me burst out laughing, and said “Oh, was she rude, or what?”

I have to think she was dealing with some problem unknown to me. Otherwise, I can’t imagine what would make somebody be so mean to a total stranger.

At any rate, I’m putting the incident behind me without too much difficulty, because Arthur and I are taking the rest of the day off from the remodeling. We are taking a little overnight trip to the casino resort in Tulsa. The rest and relaxation will make us all bright and ready to continue with the house on Monday, even if we don’t hit any jackpots!

Yep. Shrug it off. We don't seem to do much teaching about compassion and consideration these days. You're probably right - she was likely dealing with some issue over the phone and you just hit with some overspray and became collateral damage.

Enjoy your time in Tulsa town!
